Now I started feeling sick on Monday and thought 'I'll just fight this off with my healthy diet armour' which sounds crazy but I have fought off about two other colds in the last few months just by resting for a day and they never took over. Nope. Not this one. I'm coughing. I'm sneezing. I'm coughing up things that should. Not. Be. Coughed. Up. So when that happened I finally admitted 'I'm sick'. I haven't gone into work and I've been rugging myself up in warm clothes and taking paracetamol at night to give me a good rest.
So my friend Petrice came over yesterday, we had a lovely lunch (potato and leek soup), we had a lovely dessert (orange and almond cake) and then she asked me what I am taking for the cold. I said "Nothing, I'm going to let it run its course' (I was, of course having my Hippy Herbal drink). She launched into telling me about a fabulous cold remedy that has elderberry in it. Hmmmmm I thought, I have something here that has elderflower in it. It's got vitamin C, quercitin and zinc as well. Errrrrr perhaps I should be taking it.
So I made my Hippy Herbal Drink and added this powder into it (It's called Immuno Factors) and VOILA a fabulous concoction was born! You know what I liked best about my Hippy Herbal Drink recharged? It looked GOOD, it was EXCITING to make, and BEST of all? It tastes REALLY GOOD! For me those factors, although trivial, are crucial to me actually taking a remedy/food etc. Call me a child but it has to be EXCITING!
Ok let me tell you about my regular Hippy Herbal Drink. Now I can't remember who first told me about it but it's a goodie. My ex and I drank it everyday for 6 months and it kept us cold and flu free for that whole time. I think it may work better as a prevention (prophylactic) but its still a classic cold and flu remedy that most of you would know about, but with a twist. Here goes.
..Now this is pretty standard until...
Yup, that my regular Hippy Herbal Drink. Hot water with honey (I use local Jarrah honey), lemon (can use juice, at the moment I'm using chunks) and a dash of cayenne pepper. Crikey it is good! It zaps you AND it can get your bowels moving too!
Now thats all well and good and dandy but along comes my friend Petrice, kicks my butt into gear and reminds me I should probably be being more proactive, so I add a scoop of the Immuno Factors in (note its a practitioner only product by BioCeuticals) and OOOOOOOOOO its become something! Something magical and beautiful and when I drank it it took the Hippy Herbal Drink to a. Whole. New. Level. I don't think many supplements would be able to do this, I just experimented and got lucky, and that's why I'm sharing this with you.
So please enjoy my recipe for Hippy Herbal Drink Recharged
Chunk of lemon (I cut of the peel of one lemon and quartered it, Ive then been using a quarter in my drinks and even REUSING each quarter about three times. By the last time the lemon is all soft and able to be eaten...nom nom nom)
Teaspoon Jarrah honey (any local honey will do, or regular honey if that's what you've got)
Dash of cayenne pepper ( I would recommend buying this if you don't have any, cayenne pepper is fabulous for the metabolism)
I scoop of BioCeuticals Immuno Factor
Put lemon in first, followed by cayenne pepper, then honey.
Stir it all up.
Add the scoop of Immuno Factor in and keep the spoon in.
I would love to hear how you go with this. It's not going to cure your cold overnight, it certainly hasn't cured mine, it's just going to lend some gentle support to your immune system while it fights off the bugs.
